[About the artwork]

The Winter Lotus series is a collection of works that contemplate the cycle of nature and the essence of time.

It explores themes of nature's time and rebirth. The artist personally prints on Hanji, traditional Korean handmade paper.

Nam has explored "the passage of time" through landscapes. In this series, he uses withered lotus flowers in winter as subjects, quietly highlighting the difference between human time and natural time.

A lotus covered in snow may at first glance appear to be a scene of death. However, this state is also a period of preparation for the next rebirth. Nam depicts the life force latent within decay and stillness through a restrained expression of light.

All works are personally printed by the artist on Hanji, traditional Korean handmade paper. The image deeply embedded in the fibers of Hanji more physically conveys the stillness of winter and the layers of time.
