STYLE MEETS PEOPLE Tokyo Midtown celebrates its 16th anniversary in 2023. We have been offering products and events that propose personalized "quality relaxation time" based on the concept of "relaxury = relax + luxury for mind + body."
In addition, the art exhibition "ART MEETS PEOPLE" will be held for the 54th time this spring, and we have been working on a project to bring art, which enriches our minds and lives, into our daily lives in a more familiar way as interior design. After this experience, "SMP GALLERY" will open in the store space this fall on September 3 (Sun.). With the concept of "made in mind," we will hold exhibitions in Art, Design, and Kogei.
STYLE MEETS PEOPLE's brand originated in New York, U.S.A., and was established in Manhattan in 1986. The days and times when we lived in the city were full of exciting, exuberant, and mysterious attractions that brought us into contact with various cultures and values. Daily, we were exposed to many paintings, sculptures, photographs, ceramics, textiles, and other works, from the masters to contemporary artists, in galleries, museums, and streets. It was a series of moving and resonant experiences that transcended language barriers.
We live in an unprecedented era of natural disasters, destruction, rebirth, circulation, and a new age of digital information inundation. Artists sharpen their five senses, face the materials, and sublimate them into art from their perspectives and sensitivities, "made in mind" = "form of thought."
Why are we attracted to a work? We hope you will enjoy the time of encountering and feeling works that transcend genres in the space of SMP GALLERY.
