[About the artwork in The Things / Mono Series

A series of flower and vase artworks by photographer Jonghyun Nam.
This beautiful piece emanates a comfortable tension in the soft light, with wild rose branches arranged in a white traditional Korean ceramic Moon Jar.

All works are printed by the artist himself on traditional Korean handmade Hanji paper.
Images deeply permeated into the fibers of Hanji carry traces of time, creating a unique expression that traverses the boundaries between photography and painting.

Jonghyun Nam quietly gazes at the time and memories embedded in the "things" around him.
He is particularly drawn to old objects that have passed through many years, and seeks to perceive the traces of human hands etched into them, and the presence of life, such as joy and sorrow.

When the artist encounters an "object," he listens to its story, brings it back to his studio, and spends a long time facing it. Then, at the moment he feels he has sufficiently dialogued with it, he presses the shutter.

The captured images are printed by the artist himself on Hanji, a traditional Korean handmade paper with a breathing texture. Within the warmth of the paper and the expansive blank space, the "object" quietly begins to speak of its existence.
