About My Work

I produce oil-finished and wiped lacquer vases and vases in Yamagata. I aim to create works of art by taking my time to stabilize the aging process while respecting the expression of the wood.

To make the most of the rich expression of wood that creates nature.

And to accompany people's daily lives as a tool.

The balance between these two is the theme of my work.

When I work with wood, I feel that it has a variety of personalities.

Even the same species of tree can have different tastes, grains, and hardness depending on the environment in which it was grown and the part of the tree where it was grown.

Trees were originally living organisms in the forest, and they remain as unique, translatable, time-tested materials that have lived their lives.

I believe that this is the charm of wood, and I create my pieces with knots and splits along the way, valuing the expression of the wood.
