Collection: Matsuo A-taro

2D and 3D works (mixed media collage)

Matsuo Eitaro visualizes the mental landscapes of "delusion and reality" using the techniques of two-dimensional (prints) and three-dimensional (sculpture) that he has cultivated. The artist's creative themes are "life and death" and the "contradictions" we face in life, and in his representative work, the "HAZAMA" series, he mainly uses burned Japanese paper and old books as materials, layering and pasting the pieces of paper together to create collages. He expresses a three-dimensional composition and a time axis on a two-dimensional surface. In line with the artist's words, "The materials are right at our feet," he creates his own unique world of two-dimensional and three-dimensional works using materials he encounters in his daily life.
