SMP GALLERY is pleased to announce an abstract artist, Mayu Kunihisa's solo exhibition, the first at our space.
Looking at the arcing lines and layered colors that Mayu Kunihisa draws on canvas, we are strangely invited to feel a sense of fresh vitality and serenity.
Kunihisa uses a unique technique named "WIT-WIT" for this series of paintings. The method uses arm strokes and centrifugal force to draw the human body on its axis. Her paintings are two-dimensional paintings on rectangular canvases.
Kunihisa says, "I wanted to create pure, honest fine art paintings."
The title of the solo exhibition, "UNTITLED," was chosen in the hope that viewers can engage and feel the paintings freely.
The lines connecting the paintings as "proof of living in the present moment" are full of spirituality and dynamism, as if the vibrations of the artist's heart and the works exist in response.
